Walter Lindner & Fran Donovan: Works on Paper

Fran Donovan trained in Fine Art at Southampton College and Winchester School of Art and went on to complete a Masters degree in European Fine Art in Barcelona. In addition to the full time painting, Fran has led art therapy sessions at Southampton and Ashurst hospitals, and taught in Sussex, Hampshire and Dorset and most recently an artist mentor working with servicemen in the “Other Worlds” project with Salisbury John Creasey Museum. Awards include Bibliotec Award, Winchester School of Art 1994; European Studies Award, Coopers and Lybrand 1994. Her work can be found in private collections in Britain, Spain, America and Australia and at Hampshire County Council & Salisbury Hospital ArtCare.
Walter Lindner (1936 - 2007) created wonderfully composed and graphic artworks with his unique techniques combining ink drawing, painting and gilding and monotype prints, created from painting on plates of glass. This broad culmination of multi-media attracted great attention, particularly in Berlin and Frankfurt, where he exhibited for more than 40 years. Lindner graduated from the State Academy of Fine Art and Berlin University of Arts in the 1950’s and his work can be found in collections around the world, especially Germany, United Kingdom and United States of America. Art collector, Simon Hearnden, discovered the work of this enigmatic Berlin artist whilst visiting him at his studio in 2006 and acquired as much work as he could. Together, Simon Hearndon and David Simon Contemporary manage the artist’s estate.
