Hugh Buchanan
Hugh Buchanan, born in Edinburgh in 1958, studied at Edinburgh College of Art. After completing post-graduate studies in 1981, he was awarded travel scholarships to the Middle East, North Italy and the Balkans and has traveled regularly throughout Europe to visit and paint in watercolour buildings and interiors from the Renaissance to the Baroque. Over several years he worked on commissions for the National Trust and in 1987 was invited by the Prince of Wales to paint a series of interiors of Balmoral and at Highgrove in 1994. In 1988 he was commissioned by the House of Commons to paint four interiors in the Palace of Westminster.
Hugh Buchanan’s paintings are in the Collections of HM The Queen, HRH Queen Elizabeth the late Queen Mother, HRH The Prince of Wales, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Edinburgh City Art Galleries, the Palace of Westminster, the University of Edinburgh, the University of Aberdeen, the Bank of Scotland, the Royal Bank of Scotland, Flemings Bank, Deutsche Bank, the National Trust for Scotland and the National Trust for England.
In 2002 he was commissioned by the House of Lords to paint the lying in state of the Queen Mother at the Palace of Westminster. In 1987 he was one of Ten British Watercolourists shown at the Museo de Bellas Artes in Bilbao, Spain. In 1991 he exhibited at the Lincoln Centre, New York. In 1998 five works by Hugh Buchanan were included in the exhibition Princes as Patrons: The Art Collections of the Princes of Wales from the Renaissance to the Present Day shown at the National Museum and Gallery, Cardiff. In 2005/6 his paintings featured in Watercolours and Drawings from the Collection of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, at the Palace of Holyrood House, Edinburgh and Queen’s Gallery, London. He has held fourteen solo exhibitions in London. A solo exhibition featuring paintings of Stourhead is scheduled at David Simon Contemporary in 2021.
Isabel Coulton
Isabel Coulton, born Paris, grew up in an artistic and
bohemian household; her mother Lydia Corbett, is an artist also represented by David Simon Contemporary. She studied at the City and Guilds of London Art School, affiliated to the Royal Academy, in
the 1980’s and was awarded a tuition bursary grant. A full-time artist, she works in a wide variety of mediums and techniques, including wood carving, painting, drawing and ceramics and a prominent
focus of her practice concentrates on life drawing. She currently teaches fine art at Dartington Hall, Devon and in Provence, France. She has also taught at the British Museum and received numerous
commissions for private and public sculptures.

JOHN CROFT CBE

John Croft CBE (born 1923) who has painted for more than seventy years, has always had an interest in abstract expressionists such as Nicholas de Stael and his own painting has become increasingly simplified in form. A postgraduate of Christ Church, Oxford, John Croft spent most of his career working for the Home Office and Foreign Office before focusing on painting. He has exhibited in France, London, Suffolk and Bath. In 1967 he was one of 15 painters featured in the ‘Survey ‘67’ exhibition at Camden Arts Centre, which included Basil Beattie RA and Jennifer Durrant RA.
John Croft’s work can be found in the collections of Oxford University, Cambridge University, London School of Economics, Manx Museum Isle of Man, Reform Club London and London Borough of Camden. He is included in Who’s Who in Art and continues to paint in his studio in Bath.

Stephen Lavis, Born in 1957, studied Illustration at Southampton College of Art. He enjoyed a successful career as a book illustrator, with work being selected for The Best of British Illustration Annual. In the mid-2000s Lavis decided to focus on painting full-time, choosing mainly to work in oils. Now living in South West Cornwall, Lavis became interested by the work of the British mid-century Modernists and the influence of artists such as William Scott can be seen in his work. Inspired by his studio overlooking Mount’s Bay, Cornwall, his own paintings are developing with a conscious and knowledgeable understanding of where his own working ideas are based. He is an Associate Member of the Penwith Society of Arts in Cornwall. His work has been exhibited in London, Cornwall and Bath.
Ben Lowe
Ben Lowe’s work uses layers of abstract forms to capture atmosphere and emotion through landscape painting. One of six finalists in BBC2’s ‘School of Saatchi’ – a significant achievement considering that he his largely self-taught, but yet he has developed a unique and powerful style.

He exhibits regularly in London and his paintings have been exhibited in Europe, the USA, South America, Japan, Australia and China. He has won numerous awards throughout his career including a Churchill Fellowship, a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship and a Harkness Fellowship. Gardiner’s paintings are represented in public and corporate collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Government Art Collection, BNP Paribas, Pincent Masons and Ente Nazionale Idrocarburi. In 2013 Gardiner was awarded the prestigious Discerning Eye Art Prize.
Parastoo Ganjei
Parastoo Ganjei, comes from an artistic family, with a grandfather who was a prominent painter in Iran. She paints still lifes as well as landscapes, roses are a favourite subject for her and she captures the weight of the flower heads beautifully whilst keeping a strong sense of movement. Using this common subject as a vehicle to portray feelings and emotions, there is a vitality as well as balance to her work.
Parastoo Ganjei studied fine art in Iran and Sussex and is a graduate of Bournmouth University.
Exhibiting widely in the United Kingdom, her work has proved to be extremely popular and is in many important collections around the world including the Royal Family of Brunei.

Jackie Philip, Born in 1961 in Edinburgh, studied Fine Art at Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen, at Wimbledon School of Art, London and at The Royal Academy Schools, London from 1978 - 1986. She attained BA 1st Class Honours and MFA. Since completing her postgraduate studies, she has been painting full time as a professional artist and lectured in London, Florence and Auckland.
Jackie Philip's paintings are in the genre of Still Life and Landscape and are created using raw pigment and oil on canvas to create a rich tapestry of colour and luminosity of light. The images are informed by a variety of cultures and influenced by her travels in SE Asia and Europe, as well as her native Scotland.
Jackie has exhibited widely abroad and in the UK and her paintings can be found in both corporate and private collections in the UK, Italy, Barbados, the Americas, Hong Kong and Australasia. Jackie has received many prestigious scholarships and awards including The Italian Government Scholarship, British Institute Fund and RSA Hospital Field Award and Residency.
Margaret Lovell D.LITT, FRBS, RWA
Margaret Lovell D.LITT, FRBS, RWA, born in 1939 in Bristol, is an award-winning sculptor and a Fellow of the Royal British Society of Sculptors. She trained at the Slade, London and the Academy of Fine Arts , Florence and has undertaken commissions across the UK, Europe and the USA. Her work, mostly in bronze, can be found in the collections of The Arts Council of Great Britain, Barclays Bank and Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery among many other public and private collections. This is a selection of one-off etchings that she created in the early 1960s.
