Neil Pinkett: Colours of the Coast
2 - 29 November 2019
In his native environment of Cornwall, Pinkett, for this exhibition of his latest paintings, has concentrated largely on the coastal landscape around Sennen Cove. This Westernmost tip of Great Britain, nestled between Land’s End and Cape Cornwall has long been a strong draw for artists across the ages, not only for the dramatic and constantly changing vistas but also very much for the unique quality of Atlantic light. It is a perfect yet testing place for a painter.
In this collection of some thirty paintings at the gallery’s new location on the High Street of Castle Cary, Pinkett has excelled himself capturing the dramatically volatile weather conditions of this part of the world. From powerful storms hitting the rugged coast to peaceful, almost still conditions of blue skies being mirrored in the wet sands this is a place that constantly offers different visual challenges and a wealth of beauty. In this regard, the range of compositions is broad and balanced, showing all the colours of the coast and making this a particularly rewarding showcase of Neil Pinkett’s latest work.
Neil has exhibited throughout the UK including London, Oxford, Bath, Devon and regularly in solo exhibitions in Cornwall. His work has also been toured in America. Showing with David Simon Contemporary since 2015, this is his second solo exhibition with the gallery.
