Shapes of Summer

Saturday 19th July - Saturday 31st August
PRIVATE VIEW: Saturday 19th July, 4 - 6pm
DAVID SIMON CONTEMPORARY, 37 High Street, Castle Cary, BA7 7AW

Throughout July and August the gallery shows a Summer Exhibition featuring work by six selected artists - Louise Balaam focussing on loose landscape compositions; Julia Cooper, represented by David Simon Contemporary for eleven years, presents her latest semi-abstract still lifes and abstract compositions responding to the Cornish coast; Parastoo Ganjei shows sumptuous compositions of still lifes with roses; Hannah Ivory-Baker explores the dynamic interplay between texture, light, and form. Hannah says, "I am deeply inspired by the natural world, the rugged Cornish coastline and serene Somerset Levels, to hedgerows and wildflower meadows. These landscapes provide a wealth of artistic opportunities, each possessing the essential elements necessary for creative interpretation and expression."

The exhibition includes works by Scottish colourist, Jackie Philip, with her distinctive paintings of still lifes in raw pigments on canvas, painted in Barbados.
