Biography
Victoria Jinivizian’s work is largely about interior spaces of personal significance. It is always conscious of abstract composition and shape while maintaining a strong sense of the particular place and atmosphere. Everything starts with drawing from observation. Drawing for Victoria is a constant and necessary activity - an ineluctable response to the world and to find compositions for paintings. She develops ideas through watercolour studies then prepares hand-made traditional gesso panels for oil painting. She was born in 1971 and grew up in Dorset, graduated from The Slade in 1995, and since worked and lived in Moscow, London and Wiltshire since 2000. Victoria was elected a member of the New English Art Club in 2019.
